Austrian Wine Time 2021
Side Street Hospitality, Texas Food & Wine Alliance, and the Austrian Wine Marketing Board invite you to raise a glass of Austrian wine in celebration of enduring friendship and the pioneering spirit that helped us all make it through a year’s worth of challenging times.
From April 1-May 14, 2021, SSH Beverage Director Paula Salinas will host Austrian Wine Time at Otto’s German Bistro and La Bergerie. Paula has thoughtfully selected six different Austrian wine producers to showcase the down to earth beauty and exceptional versatility of Austrian wine. Featured wine producers include Heidi Schröck, Weingut Bründlmayer, Meinklang, Schloss Gobelsburg, Weingut Nikolaihof, and Weingut Ott. Guests dining at Otto’s German Bistro will have the opportunity to enjoy special weekly by the glass & bottle features along with suggested pairings. Guests are also encouraged to explore Otto’s extensive German & Austrian wine list, which include several notable back vintages from the featured producers.
La Bergerie will offer wine lovers a journey through Austrian wine with a curated six pack comprised of a bottle from each of the featured producers. Austrian Wine Exploration six packs can be purchased in person or online via the La Bergerie website beginning April 1st for in-store pick up only. Wines may be picked up at any time during regular shop hours throughout the month of April. To kick-off Austrian Wine Time, Skurnik Wines will host a “pick-up party” and complimentary Austrian wine tasting at La Bergerie on April 3, 2021 from 12-4 p.m.
In addition to the on-site happenings at Otto’s German Bistro and La Bergerie, online content will also be available exclusively on the La Bergerie YouTube channel. Viewers will find a series of lively discussion between Paula and each of the growers centered around the wine they produce, the region their wine hales from, and what they love most about Texas.
In commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the founding of Fredericksburg, Side Street Hospitality has partnered with the Austrian Wine Marketing Board and Texas Food & Wine Alliance to offer a continuing wine education grant. The grant will be funded in part by a $500 gift from the Austrian Wine Council to the Texas Food & Wine Alliance. Proceeds of the sales from the Austrian Wine Time by the glass and bottle features at Otto’s German Bistro and Austrian Wine Exploration six pack at La Bergerie will all be contributed toward this first of its kind grant.
